Our Mission
The Griot Theater Company is more than a theater company. We are a collective of artists, educators, and entrepreneurs committed to exploring, embracing, and amplifying brown and black culture through the arts. We are the Griots of our time, responsible for salvaging our culture, which has fought to exist.
We are working with Sausalito Marin City School District and Conservatory Theater Ensemble (Tamalpais Theater Department) to birth a culture of theater within our community. We will nurture our middle and high school students' creativity by offering artistic training, mentorships, and performance opportunities. We welcome all young storytellers from diverse backgrounds who wish to tell their story more clearly, so the world might be healed and transformed.

“Tam High Drama’s Conservatory Theatre Ensemble is Thrilled to continue our five-year relationship with LeShawn Holcomb, his students, and Griot. Wih the remarkable support of Tam High Foundation our collaboration has included visiting professional artist presentations, workshops for devising new projects, and creating community. One result of the work together is an ever increasing number of Marin City youth participating in Tam’s theatre program. Despite distance learning, the Spring of 2021 brings new collaboration and mentoring opportunities for shared Griot-Tam Dram students”.
